Full story
Geki wagged her fuzzy tail as she looked over the counter to where Ruzzie was standing. “Today’s the big day!” the little dog declared as she set down a cake she just finished decorating.

“Yes.” Ruzzie said as she inspected the shelves displaying the freshly baked goodies. “They look so yummy!” She added, clapping her furry paws together.

A soft ring from the oven was heard. Geki turned around to check on the croissants she was baking. “Looks like these are ready too!” she said, carefully pulling out the tray of steaming bread. As she set down the croissants to cool, someone from outside called out their names.

It was Souji the squirrel, a good friend who agreed to help out in the new bakery. He brought along some ingredients Geki asked him to buy: A sack of flour and some delicious looking fruit. What treat did Geki have in mind this time? The possibilities are endless!

Souji, being the gentlecritter that he was, brought the heavy sack into the kitchen and set it down. He dusted his overalls and politely bade farewell for he had some other errands to finish first.

After their squirrel friend left, Ruzzie and Geki were startled to hear the door creak open. Their first customer! A spot-eyed rabbit named Rue. They greeted her with a pleasant welcome and Ruzzie proceeded to assist their visitor. Meanwhile, Geki went behind to counter to continue setting up the shop
Rue looked around and asked which pastries or bread Ruzzie would recommend, and Ruzzie had a lot of recommendations! She loved bread so much after all, especially the ones baked by her best friend, Geki. Rue was so pleased with the kitten’s enthusiasm that she wanted to try so many different things! Soon, their first customer brought a trayful of food to the counter. “I would like to purchase all of these!” She declared happily.

Into a bag the treats went, which Ruzzie gently placed in Rue’s arms. “Thank you! Come back again!” the shop owners said cheerfully as their first customer opened the door to leave.

Upon hearing that, Rue smiled to herself and thought, “I definitely will be coming back!”
